Core Values and Guiding Principles
Our Core Values are principles and enduring beliefs that guide us whenever we take an action. They influence how we make choices, what choices we make, and how we are judged by our actions. In addition to the values listed below we uphold – Ethics: Doing the right thing the right way; Impartiality: Unbiased decision making, actions, and non-discriminatory; Professionalism: Upholding high technical and ethical standards; Accountability: Taking ownership and being responsible for all our actions; Service: Obligation to provide with the best assistance to the stakeholders; Transparency: Easily accessible and understandable policies and methods.
Compassion
Compassion is the emotion one feels in response to the suffering of others. We believe that universal compassion is essential for humanity’s progress and there is an innate godliness within each of us to help others. When we see pain before us we strive to eliminate or lessen the pain through sharing and giving. Pain can be physical, spiritual, or emotional. In the same vein, giving can take on many forms – volunteering one’s time, donating money, clothing, providing shelter, etc. Every person has a need to be fulfilled and we believe in the maxim – “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.â€
Honesty
Honesty refers to a facet of moral character that connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness. We believe that honesty is the best policy. It is the best policy for us to grow and prosper to benefit our stakeholders. We believe in being honest and transparent in all our dealings with potential donors, beneficiaries, volunteers, and organizations. This is the sole responsibility of the Board of Trustees. We believe that honesty is the corner stone for transparency. Without transparency, it is impossible to have trust and integrity. Honesty is the hallmark for community development.
Collaboration
The action of working synergistically together to serve or to produce something beneficial to the community. We believe that collaborative and synergistic actions can accelerate the eradication of societal deprivations faster and more efficiently than what a single individual can do regardless of his or her motivation and effort. Working with like-minded persons, we can achieve our shared purpose for the greater good of the community. We believe that the task at hand cannot be done by any one person alone but only by a passionate team of volunteers dedicated to serve others.
Hard-work
The dedication and the commitment to achieve the goals at hand. The attitude for ‘walking the extra mile’. We believe that there is no substitute for hard work. We believe that "to whom much is given, much will be demanded". And, therefore, everyone putting his or her shoulder to this yoke must be prepared to enjoy the pleasure of one''s hard work bring forth tears of joy to the beneficiaries, the donors, the volunteers and the organizers of institutions which serve the poor.
